The reason why I choose to become a Parent Governor, is because I am interested in how the school is run and maintained.
I feel it is important to ensure that good parental representation is evident in all areas of school governance, and I am enthusiastic about making sure the opinions of parent carers are voiced at Governor meetings. I am also a member of the Governors Steering Committee.
My children, twin boys Jacob & Isaac, attend the Mary Rose, so I am also interested in their education and that of all the children and young people at the school.
I am currently employed as the Coordinator for Portsmouth Parent Voice – a charity that helps parent carers of disabled children and young people feel empowered to voice their views regarding their children, at all stages in their lives. Being a Parent Governor is a rewarding voluntary position; as I feel that my opinions are listened to and if appropriate, acted upon.
Please feel free to ask me any questions, and I’ll do my very best to answer them or find someone that can.
