My working life away from the school is with The Mary Rose Trust as the Community Engagement, Outreach and Access officer. I have had the privilege of being a community governor at the Mary Rose School since the merger of East Shore and Futcher schools which seems so many years ago and before the move to the current site. It has been a wonderful fulfilling experience but challenging and definitely a very steep learning curve at the beginning! The most rewarding part of the role is the involvement with the students both at school, at events and on the residential trips. Although these occasions tend to be quite exhausting (is it my age I hear?) you couldn’t ask to be with a nicer, friendlier and happier group of students and staff. I have previously served in the Royal Navy and with the Metropolitan and Sussex Police.
