I have been Headteacher of Mary Rose Academy since 2005. I moved down to Portsmouth from Buckinghamshire and eventually settled on the Isle of Wight. I love travelling to work each day on the hovercraft.
I am married with three grown up children and I am very lucky to also have 4 lovely grandchildren. Now that I am executive headteacher of 3 schools (Mary Rose, Cliffdale and Redwood Park) I have to be honest that I don’t have too much leisure time. When I do I enjoy exploring the Island and taking advantage of the beaches and country walks that are so easy to access. I also decorate celebration cakes and love to cook.
What excites you about your role within the Academy?
I am just so proud and privileged to be the Executive Headteacher of such a wonderful group of schools. Since Mary Rose opened in September 2006 we have achieved so much. We were of course also extremely delighted with the results of our Ofsted inspection in October 2013 when were judged to be outstanding for the second time. This confirmed our belief that Mary Rose is a great school. We are a National Teaching School and a National Support School. This provides us with the opportunity to share our expertise and work with Portsmouth Schools to raise standards. Mary Rose Academy is a wonderful place to be and I am very proud of the achievements of our pupils and staff supported strongly by our families, carers and the wide range of partners with whom we have such good relationships. I feel that we are going from strength to strength and that every day is exciting, challenging and fun! Our pupils tell us that they love coming to school – nearly as much as I do.
