I originally started at Mary Rose as a class teacher in 2009. After a break working at a special school in New Zealand I re-joined as Assistant Headteacher and then progressed to Head of School. I have always lived locally and was born up the road from the school at St Marys Hospital. I love to explore and have been very fortunate to have travelled to a range of exciting destinations. I now live just outside of Portsmouth. I have two very bouncy dogs which keep me busy and need lots of walking.
What excites you about your role within the Academy?
Working at Mary Rose is great! Every day is different and the pupils never fail to surprise me. I’m very proud of the school and enjoy working in such an exciting and dynamic environment. We are a very busy school that continually offers a variety of opportunities and experiences for our pupils. It is great working with such a committed and dedicated team, all striving to do the best for each individual pupil. The best part of the school day is greeting the pupils as they arrive in the morning, they clearly enjoy coming to school and frequently show they are pleased to be here.
Mary Rose is a Challenge Partners School. This means we work alongside other schools within the organisation to continually raise standards. As part of this process we welcome in other school leaders to work with us, in return we do the same. This is a great opportunity to visit other special schools and bring back new and exciting ideas that will support and benefit our pupils.
