Pupils and staff all gathered together in the morning for an introduction and warm up ready for the day. We started by watching Mary Rose Academy’s Rock Challenge performance from last year before dancing together to warm up. Pupils then split into three groups to take part in a carousel of activities based upon Performing Arts.
We have had some wonderful ‘Welcome Back to School’ assemblies this week. We have enjoyed welcoming back our existing pupils, who always seem to have grown so much over the summer break! And we all met our brand new staff and pupils who have joined us this year at Mary Rose, and wow they have settled so well into their classes! It was fun to sing and dance together will all our friends again. We also took time to reflect on the learning journey that we will all go on this year, and in our ‘Make your Mark’ assembly we started with a blank canvas and throughout the assembly every single pupil and staff member ‘made their mark’ on the canvas. It is exciting to consider all the new opportunities, new friends, new learning and fun times that we have ahead of us this year at school.
Mary Rose Academy is very proud of its residential visits programme and positively encourages as many pupils as possible to access these trips. The benefits to the young person are wide ranging with positive impact on their communication, personal development, self esteem and their learning.
On Friday 26th April Upper Secondary had their Stunning Start to get a taster for their new topic for this term – Grow Your Own! Classes took responsibility for organising different activities and opening them up to all - pupils had the opportunity to move around different classrooms and locations engaging in activities which gave a taster to the topic.
