Donkey Sanctuary Visit

Donkey Sanctuary Visit

This term, Ark Royal class wrapped up warmly and went on an adventure to the Isle of Wight. We were lucky enough to win a competition that enabled us to visit one of the UK’s largest donkey sanctuaries.

The ferry crossing was very exciting, sitting on-board listening as the waves crashed against the ship. Byron, on the other hand, couldn’t stop laughing as the car alarms rang out in unison!

Arriving at the sanctuary we were greeted by Santa Claus himself - Ollie was so excited he couldn’t stop smiling! Once we all had a photo with Santa we proceeded to the barn. The donkeys were extremely happy to see us with our bowls of apples and the noise was deafening!

Pupils had a 1-1 grooming session and it was simply amazing to watch. They smiled from ear to ear and those who are often ‘tactile defensive’ couldn’t wait to feel the donkeys’ soft fur.

An amazing trip was had by all and we can’t wait to visit again (hopefully in the Summer when it’s a lot warmer!).
