Experiencing live performances in music

During the week commencing Jan 18th we were very lucky to have had the opportunity to attend two exciting performances by professional musicians.

On Monday Puffin class went to the Guildhall in Portsmouth to see Sir Scallywag and the Battle of Stinky Bottom by Giles Andreae performed by Ensemble 360.  Sir Scallywag is the main character in a whole series of books and in the Battle of Stinky Bottom he is mightier than ever! King Colin was in need of 6-year-old Sir Scallywag's help again, and had set his sights on a Golden Sausage that would make him live for ever! Unfortunately it was guarded by hundreds of angry trolls.  The story was narrated and there was live music throughout, along with a number of songs that were performed by all!

On Tuesday Turtle class went to the Festival Theatre in Chichester to see a Children’s Concert performed by Southern Pro Musica. The orchestra played a number of very well-known pieces. In addition, the story of Jack and the Beanstalk was narrated and accompanied with live music. The narrator was also a magician who performed some magic tricks and the concert ended with everyone joining in with the Wigwam song.

Both classes thoroughly enjoyed themselves and have already asked whether there are any more similar trips in the pipeline!
