A big thank you to everyone who joined us for our Harvest Festival Celebration today, it was a great occasion!
This year we supported two very worthy causes. The New Horizon School which is the special school we support in Accra in Ghana and The Portsmouth Food Bank. We thank everyone for the money you donated to buy resources for New Horizon School which we will send out to them later in the year. We also thank you for the food you donated for the Food Bank and for your generosity.
In our assembly we thought about the food that we grow and how it is used to help us to grow and be healthy. We found out how wheat is grown, harvested and then turned into bread. We organised the Great Mary Rose Bread Bake-Off and every child made a bread roll during the service, which was later cooked in our kitchens and then sampled!
Throughout assembly our Harvest display grew as pupils bought along food donations for the Food Bank in beautifully decorated boxes. We were really pleased that Mr Mant, from the Food Bank, was able to join us to accept the donations. We managed to collect 182.9kg of food, amazing and thank you.
