The day began with great excitement as a sea of team coloured shirts filled Mary Rose Academy. Pupils and staff divided into 4 different teams – Red, Blue, Green and Yellow to launch the start of our new intra competition here at Mary Rose Academy. Our new in school competition will run throughout the year in the form of lots of different exciting events, for example theme days, morning exercise and competitions with a grand finale at Sports Day next June!
The Sponsored Walk began at 11:00 on the Secondary Playground with everyone meeting with their lap score cards ready to warm up! We were really pleased to see lots of parents, grand-parents and carers there to support us too! After a big group warm up our new Head of School Jo gave us a countdown before we began our walk in the sunshine!
We all completed as many laps as we could within an hour collecting stamps for each lap. We enjoyed talking with our friends and waving our team banners as we travelled around the school site.
At the end of the day we celebrated the fantastic event with an awards assembly where found out the results from the Sponsored Walk.
The results were as followed –
Most Laps – Jimmy Marsh – 15 laps
Best Effort – Lennon, Archie, Dominik and Finlay for their costumes and laps achieved!
EYFS - Finlay Montague
Best Costume Pod 1 – Lennon Beech and Aga
Best Costume Pod 2 – Makayla Do and Natalie
Best Costume Pod 3 – Grace Mellors and Danielle Fox
Best Costume Pod 4 – Julia Stach and Morna
Best Costume 6th Form – Max Y and Kate P
And we raised a grand total of £325.10
And the Team Totals
4th Place – Yellow Team = 203 points
3rd Place – Blue Teams = 206 points
2nd Place – Green Team = 219 points
1st Place – Red Team = 226 points
We are in the process of coming up with Team Names to replace the colours and this will be decided by the school student voice council SHOUT soon!
Well done to everyone who took part!!
