On route to Rio the music department stopped off in Africa! The pupils listened to different styles of African music, both instrumental and vocal.
They sang an African call and response song called Kye Kye Kule, and experienced African drumming which involved learning two different ways of producing sounds on the Djembes (African drums). Once the group had established a main beat, it was repeated over and over while two individuals in the group held a rhythmic conversation! Ark Royal, Fearless, Octopus, Seahorse and Adventure classes participated in the African drumming workshops and judging by the pupils responses, all had a lot of fun!
