On Friday 26th April Upper Secondary had their Stunning Start to get a taster for their new topic for this term – Grow Your Own! Classes took responsibility for organising different activities and opening them up to all - pupils had the opportunity to move around different classrooms and locations engaging in activities which gave a taster to the topic. Wembley class took over Food Studies and offered dry and fresh herbs and spices in dough to explore through touch, taste and smell. Victory extended this activity into the allotment where pupils were able to handle, smell, taste and plant fresh herbs – coriander and basil were the favourites! Mayflower hosted vegetable printing and flower pressing and pupils were able to use flowers for some art – making bookmarks. Warrior created a weaving frame which pupils decorated with imitation and real plants and flowers, using their fine motor skills to weave. Wimbledon class ran a pot painting session – it got a bit messy! Jane in music created butterfly plant labels which pupils will hopefully use soon once items they have planted start to grow. It was a busy but really fun morning! There was lots of team work, a willingness to try new things and some pupils requested to stay at activities that engaged them. Well done, we hope to share more new soon!
