Remembrance Day Assembly

Remembrance Day at Mary Rose.

Today we had a very reflective assembly. We thought about all the poppies that we are seeing people wearing, and what they represent. Earlier today Kyle had researched what Remembrance Day is and found out what the poppy can remind us about, we shared this with everyone in the assembly.

All of the pupils made a poppy this week, and as we came together for the assembly we created a collective memorial in the hall by placing them together. We listened to the sound of the bugle, and as ‘The Last Post’ played we reflected on the poppies as we listened, and had a moment of quiet to remember all of the people who have lost their lives in wars over the years. No one had ever known Mary Rose Academy that quiet before! We took this moment to be thankful for all of the people who protect us and serve in the armed forces.

It was an emotive moment and we will remember this when we see people wearing their poppies this weekend and on Remembrance Day.
