On Wednesday Harry A, Shannon, Abbey, Levi, Khalid and Daddy were invited to take part in a Step Into Sport Inclusive Leadership Training Day at Mountbatten Leisure Centre.
We arrived ready for the morning introductions and enjoyed listening to retired Paralympic swimmer Kate Grey talk about how she worked towards her goal of competing at the Paralympics and the attributes she needed to achieve her goal. Attributes included – determination, confidence, focus, and hard work.
Pupils then split into four groups and took part in a series of workshops including developing their skills in leadership communication, delivering high quality inclusive activities using the Space Task Equipment People Safety process to set up and run each activity.
In the afternoon we worked with pupils from other schools to think about what a successful event might look like and how we might plan an event in the future.
We had a fantastic day and really enjoyed working with other Sports Leaders from across Hampshire to develop our leadership skills and look forward to putting them into practice at some sports festivals soon!
